A connected, paperless laboratory

01Overview

An ERPNext-led roadmap for a paperless metrology laboratory

IMC Métrologie is a laboratory specialising in calibration, verification and related measurement services. The organisation set out a programme to reduce its reliance on paper and strengthen the way it manages laboratory information.

NaviTrends prepared a phased digitalisation roadmap centred on ERPNext, with connected document management and processes designed around traceability and quality requirements. The source document sets out the intended scope; it does not establish that every phase has been delivered.

02The challenge

Making records, approvals and quality evidence easier to manage

Metrology laboratories need reliable records throughout the lifecycle of a measurement service, from equipment intake and technical work to certificates and customer communication. Paper-based documents and separate systems can make information harder to retrieve, review and audit.

For IMC Métrologie, the objective was to establish a more consistent digital way of working while supporting the documentation and traceability expected in an ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 10012 context.

03Our approach

A phased approach to ERPNext and paperless workflows

The roadmap brings together core ERP processes, controlled document management and laboratory-specific quality workflows. It separates foundational implementation from later capabilities planned for subsequent phases.

Centralised ERP workflows

Use ERPNext as the proposed backbone for business processes and consistent operational records.

Paperless document control

Plan structured document storage, versioning and access to certificates and supporting records.

Metrology and quality traceability

Define workflows for equipment follow-up, calibration documentation, non-conformities and audit preparation.

04Business value

A foundation for more traceable laboratory operations

The proposed transformation is intended to give IMC Métrologie a clearer framework for managing laboratory records, quality processes and customer-facing documentation. A centralised approach could make information easier to locate and help teams prepare supporting evidence for quality reviews.

These are expected benefits of the documented roadmap, not verified post-implementation outcomes. No time savings, certification achievements or performance improvements are attributed to the project.
